Two lavish rail cars will roll out in 2026, offering exclusive journeys from L.A. to San Francisco and San Francisco to Denver.

If you think you need to go to Europe to experience a luxury sleeper train, think again. Beginning in January 2026, private rail cars will be added to two storied Amtrak routes, giving travelers a lavish home on wheels complete with exclusive use of a five-bedroom sleeper car and a lounge car crowned by a viewing dome and serviced by a private chef.

The luxury rail cars will debut on the Coast Starlight as it travels between Los Angeles and San Francisco, then join the California Zephyr to connect San Francisco and Denver. Service on both routes begins in mid-January 2026, and bookings are already available through Halloway, the first online marketplace dedicated exclusively to private rail car travel.

Both journeys take place aboard two private rail cars. The Evelyn Henry sleeper car has five luxurious bedrooms with modern amenities, while the Warren R. Henry car features a lounge and dedicated observation space. Both rail cars are historic but have been renovated for the modern traveler. Guests can expect complete privacy, gourmet meals prepared by an onboard chef, and spectacular views, thanks to a vista dome car that offers nonstop 360-degree views.

And then there are the train routes themselves. The first—which runs between Los Angeles and San Francisco—follows the Coast Starlight route, often called the “grand West Coast train adventure.” The 12-hour journey runs along the Pacific coastline and California’s wine country before ending in the Bay Area.

The longer San Francisco to Denver journey is attached to Amtrak’s California Zephyr, which connects San Francisco and Chicago via Salt Lake City, Denver, and Omaha. Halloway’s private rail cars are available on the leg that runs between San Francisco to Denver and includes the ascent from the Bay Area into the Sierra Nevada and along the red rock canyons of Utah. The final shift of landscape includes a journey through the Rocky Mountains before ending in Denver.

These routes showcase Halloway’s mission to expand access to private rail experiences across North America and their vision to bring back the grandeur of classic rail travel.

The Los Angeles to San Francisco route runs on Jan. 15, 2026 and departs from Los Angeles Union Station. The $10,000 fare includes exclusive use of the Evelyn Henry sleeper car and the Warren R. Henry vista dome car for up to six people. An onboard breakfast, lunch, and dinner is included. Tickets are available at gohalloway.com.

Then, on Jan. 16, 2026, the private rail cars leave San Francisco and make their way to Denver. The rate for full, exclusive use of both private rail cars—the Evelyn Henry sleeper car and the Warren R. Henry vista dome car—is $18,500 for up to six people and includes all chef-prepared meals. Tickets are available at gohalloway.com.
